About Basto

I’m the founder of Basto, originally from Dalsland, where I grew up with sauna as a natural part of life. Over the years it has become more than a habit — I’m truly sauna-baptist. The sauna has always been a place for recovery, presence, and calm, and that is the feeling I want to share with others.

Basto was created from a simple idea: to make sauna more accessible. It should be easy to book, easy to use, and free from unnecessary complications. Nothing fancy — just sauna, the way it’s meant to be.

Water has always been an important part of my relationship with sauna. That’s why Basto will always be located close to water, allowing bathing and sauna to naturally go hand in hand. The contrast between heat and cold, stillness and movement, is a core part of the experience.

Nature is just as important as the sauna itself. It’s not only the heat and the cold that shape the sauna experience, but also the views, the surroundings, and the sense of calm they create. The forest, the water, and the horizon are all part of the experience.
